2. Data Sourcing

Points to note:

1) The profile of one of the most popular data vendors on our platform:

  • This company collects device level location data from participating in ad exchanges and displaying banner and video ads in over 100,000 apps. The vendor also has direct relationships with publishers who have installed a location SDK which collects background location information.

2) Clients get access to our semi-proprietary datasets e.g. we have launched a consumer transaction dataset called RevCast. Eagle Alpha’s RevCast indicators are company level revenue indicators, designed to predict quarterly revenues for major US consumer companies.

3) Examples of client requests:

  • What are the best alternative data providers for store locations?
  • What are the best web analytics providers for the Chinese market?
  • What are the best alternative datasets for population and GDP?

4) Upcoming roadshow:

  • May 30-31, Zurich: A sentiment data provider is meeting funds. This provider delivers investment signals based on sentiment and emotions analysis of over 120,000 data sources, focusing on social trading websites and specialized press. Signals are available for more than 2,000 tickers as well as bonds, currencies and commodities.

3. Data Analytics

On April 13th 2018, Eagle Alpha’s Data Analytics team published a report analyzing consumer trends for TJX. We highlighted: “The index has been inflecting upwards since late 2017 and is up sharply in the current quarter, so far. This points to a strong SSS performance in the April quarter. Current expectations are for TJX to report a sequential decrease in SSS. The strength of the signal implies SSS upside to either the current quarter or guidance for the July quarter.”

Our RevCast prediction, a consumer transaction dataset launched recently, pointed to net sales of $8.605 billion.

On May 22nd 2018, TJX reported net sales of $8.69 billion beating analysts’ expectation of $8.47 billion. The company reported a slight upside to same store sales in the April quarter and guided the July quarter in line. SSS of 3% in the April quarter were ahead of consensus of 2.2%
