Alternative Data Newsletter #119 – May 24th, 2019

Key Highlights

  • Ticker Signals: Eagle Alpha presented its new proprietary dataset at our NYC event last week called ‘Ticker Signals’, which also had some of the most 1-1 meeting’s booked in with the buyside. Ticker Signals is an indicator built using online search data providing insight into the Russell 1000. Eagle Alpha recently started alpha testing ticker signals and if you would like some more information on our backtesting results please email enquiries@eaglealpha.com.
  • Quality testing: we already have a significant backlog of data companies that have approached us to provide their data for quality testing. We have started scaling these reports. We will use our proprietary analytics of clickstream, events and meetings data to prioritize these reports. The feedback on what this means for client challenges for prioritization, quality testing, conversion and trial period efficiencies is uniformly positive.
  • Prioritization: most attendees at our event met up to 20 data companies each. There are 975 others on our platform that could be relevant to their strategy/research requirements. We have proprietary analytics on which are ‘trending’ in each category. To emphasize again “discovery” is different to prioritization and has people ‘discover’ the exponential supply of datasets, prioritization is becoming key. We see conversion rates continue to creep higher. Vendors with most meetings are presented below (please note that names are redacted and only available to our Data Sourcing clients).
