Quality Testing

Eagle Alpha’s Data Science team recently published a Jupyter notebook-based Data Quality report on a dataset that tracks human capital and employment information across 1000s of public and private companies.  Clients of Eagle Alpha’s Data Sourcing offering can access the report here.

With Alpha Capture, data vendors submit trade ideas or forward-looking use cases based on interesting insights from their datasets, which gives fund managers the first-ever opportunity to value alternative datasets and ascertain, at scale, the real potential for alpha. Email to learn more.

This vendor provides an in-depth view of the workforces of companies around the world.  The vendor’s new dataset assesses companies’ vulnerability due to COVID-19 pandemic. The proprietary technology of tracking workforces on companies is used to determine which companies are at high/low risk. Our Data Sourcing clients can view the full profile here.

The Revelio Labs dashboard on Eagle Edge facilitates the analysis of hiring and attrition trends for public companies. We use the dashboard to examine the impact of high-profile layoff announcements in 2018 and 2019 for Tesla (TSLA). We show that despite slower total hiring the company continued to hire important engineering roles throughout the period, helping them hit production and delivery targets in 2019.

Case Study

RS Metrics used satellite imagery data to show a slowdown in copper production in the month of February compared to end of 2019. The decline from January levels, which accounted for the Chinese New Year was also evident.

Legal & Compliance

Yesterday we hosted a legal webinar on the topic of ompliance around COVID-19 and using alternative data. The main idea discussed was to not compromise on core principals (data provenance and PII) while still being flexible on DDQ and some other less pressing areas such as indemnities, auto-renewals and pricing.
