Quality Testing

The chart shows that seasonal trends in transactions can differ significantly among card types. Our quality report on consumer transaction data highlighted the winter holiday season peak in gift card transactions, while many of the general purpose card types show more of a peak in February and March, during tax refund season in the US.

The latest Alpha Capture sheet is now live and the majority of ideas have a significant focus on the impact of COVID-19 on companies, sectors and the economy. Examples of ideas as follows:

  • Business Insights (Aviation Data): The impact to airlines is now being passed onto the aircraft manufacturers (Boeing/Airbus) as aircraft storage numbers rise. Bookings and schedules continue to fall impacting airlines globally.
  • Consumer Transaction: A number of ideas highlighting declining spend across ride-hailing companies and airlines.
  • App & Web Traffic Data: What companies are gaining/losing from increasing/decreasing usage. The general theme is that food & grocery delivery, business, education, video games and news apps are gaining most.
  • Geo-location/Satellite: Panic buying has definitely set in with some retailers benefiting in the short-term (Walmart/Costco). This type of data has also given insight into who is increasing production -> 3M, Johnson & Johnson and Regeneron.
  • Employment Data: Who’s hiring (Amazon) and firing (Airlines, Hotels, Cruises) and what does the outlook look like for the wider economy.

This vendor launched a COVID-19 tracker that benchmarks industry performance hoping to not only identify signals for businesses to leverage today but to also help them think strategically for the future. The objective of this tracker is to offer a daily assessment of the reverberations on consumer and business behavior amid the growing coronavirus outbreak. Case Study

RS Metrics used satellite imagery data to show a slowdown in copper production in the month of February compared to end of 2019. The decline from January levels, which accounted for the Chinese New Year was also evident.

Legal & Compliance

At our latest legal webinar, Lowenstein Sandler discussed not to compromise on core principals (data provenance and PII) while still being flexible on DDQ and some other less pressing areas such as indemnities, auto-renewals and pricing.
