Corporate Usage of Data By Department

On a recent panel at our Virtual Conference, we had a chance to look at corporate usage of external data by department including:  Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain, Product Development/R&D, Human Resources and Strategy.  Speakers from PwC, LinkUp, Thoughspot, Snowflake, Google Cloud, Vertical Knowledge and GlobalData rounded out the panel discussion on this important topic.

Updates From Data Strategy

  • We published a case study that shows how geo-location data can be used to track membership and revenue metrics for BJ’s Wholesale Club.
  • Replays are available of recent legal workshop on federal privacy legislation and alpha workshop on consumer transaction data.
  • A legal article looks at recent actions taken by the Chinese authorities. An Expert Hub article looks at best practice in an investment process flow.

Industry Intel

  • ‘The global prevalence of the internet has brought with it alternative data sets that can help us monitor all three elements discussed on almost a daily basis. Several studies have highlighted the predictive power of Google searches for short-term forecast of economic data in developed markets – a fact borne out by our research, too.’ Click here to read the article.
  • ‘Thedata sets were viewed by Wall Street as a secondary need in the world of alternative data, as they usually had to be paired with other information —credit-card receipts, for example —to create an investment signal. Clientele for the data was often limited to a handful of well-resourced funds and banks with serious data-science chops.’ Click here to read the article.
