Big Data and AI Strategies: 2019 Alternative Data Handbook
The J.P. Morgan Alternative Data Handbook is an extension to our 2017 primer on applying Big Data and AI techniques to investment decisions. In this report we provide a global directory of alternative data products and services. The directory includes a listing of alternative data products broken down by asset class and region, and a list of alternative data vendors categorized by data source (e.g. data collected from individual activities, business processes, sensors.). Listings include links to the data vendors’ websites, product descriptions, and the frequency, delivery method, format, and source of the data. In the introduction to the directory we analyze recent data usage trends in the investment world, and in the Appendix we summarize the results of a survey we conducted recently among data vendors around the globe.
This report is the first in a series of reports published in March 2020 by Eagle Alpha on the use of alternative data to track the impact of the Coronavirus. The purpose of this report is to provide buyside funds, private equity firms, corporates, governments and central banks with examples of how alternative data can be leveraged for timely insights.
Coronavirus Data Package
With the recent coronavirus outbreak, it has become more evident than ever that traditional research and data sources don’t provide investors with timely or adequate insights. Alternative data is the only way investors can obtain timely and granular insights.
There are currently over 1,150 alternative datasets in the Eagle Alpha database. Eagle Alpha has identified hundreds specifically relevant to private equity firms. We are uniquely positioned to form partnerships with innovative private equity firms to profit from alternative data.
